Our Mission
Our primary objective is to carry out Sri Annamalai Swami’s vision which was to create a nurturing environment where sincere seekers could follow the teachings of Sri Bhagavan and other Enlightened Masters, perform sādhana and attain Self-Realization. The Sri Satguru Annamalai Swamigal Spiritual Trust was formed in the year 2011 by Sundaram Swami, who was the caretaker for Sri Annamalai Swami, living with him from 1976 – 1995, after which he took care of various activities related to Sri Annamalai Swami’s legacy for another 8 years. A summary of the objectives of this Trust are:
- To preserve and share the legacy of Satguru Sri Annamalai Swami and his Guru Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi with the world, for the benefit of seekers of the Truth.
- To fulfill the vision of Sri Annamalai Swami to build an Ashram in a quiet and serene setting where sincere seekers could perform sādhana while serving a living Brahma Jnani.
- To build a shrine for Sri Annamalai Swami and Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi, along with a meditation hall, where devotees can offer prayers, immerse themselves in self-enquiry, meditation and perform Parayana of sacred texts and songs.
- To provide opportunities for regular satsangs with enlightened masters to guide seekers on the path towards enlightenment.
- To edit and publish books about Sri Annamalai Swami and other enlightened masters in English, Tamil, Telugu and other languages (see books section).
In parallel, it is our objective to be of assistance to the community in the greater Tiruvannamalai area, helping those in dire need with food, education, soft-skills, yoga, meditation and health related assistance. The Sri Satguru Annamalai Swami Memorial Trust was founded for this purpose and has been actively engaging with the community ever since. Objectives and activities of this trust are:
- To enrich the community around us by promoting socio-economic progress, irrespective of caste, creed, gender etc.
- Sponsoring the costs of education for needy children, through scholarships.
- To provide Annadhanam for the needy, in parallel with assistance to foster self-reliance for basic food needs.
- To provide clothing assistance to the needy including school uniforms, sarees, cloth material and children’s dresses.
- To conduct educational health-care workshops in strategic parts of the community to raise awareness, prevention and cure of common health issues.
